Program Description
1. Program Introduction
Editor Notes: The Chinese Language program being chosen by nearly 70% of all the language students is the most popular program.
- This program uses the intensified and systematical schedule and contents to improve students' listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.
- Each class has at least 15 students and the average is about 20.
- Students will have 45 minutes per class hour and sit-in is not permitted in any program.
- There is no classes on legal holidays.
- Students who complete designated class hours and pass the exams will be given “Completion Certificate”.
2. Program Structure
Editor Notes: This program can be divided into four levels.
Class size
The minimum size of each class is 15 students and the average is about 20.Each class hour is 45 minutes and sit in on is not permitted in any programs. No class on legal holidays.Completion Certificate

8. 2020 Special
Editor Notes: The university provides better conditions and policies for international students in 2020 because of the pandemic.
Affected by the pandemic, the university has made a few adjustments to the language programs of the 2020 autumn semester. If you have studied, or are studying Chinese language at Donghua, tuition discount can also be applied to you. Join us to explore the Chinese language now!
The Form of Instruction
Normally, the program is instructed offline. However, caused by the pandemic, before the international students can return to the university for offline classes, the program will be instructed online. Once the international students are able to back to the campus for offline classes, the program will be switched into on-campus instruction. The university will notify students in advance to help them get prepared for coming to the campus to take offline classes.
Given that some of the students may still not able to come to the campus after the offline classes are resumed, the university will decide whether to continue with the online classes according to the class levels and the number of students at that time. For the online and offline classes, the minimum number of students to start a class is 8.
Autumn semester Tuition: CNY 9600
Application Fee waiver and continual study discount can be applied to the students that have studied or are studying Chinese language at Donghua. Scholarships of 2019 autumn and 2020 spring that have not been used can also be applied to the 2020 autumn semester. Teaching Plan of Online Stage
Schedule: 3 hours per day, 9:00-12:00 or 13:00-16:00 Beijing Time. Students can choose to participate in a fixed time slot.
2 hour online real-time classes and 1 hour offline learning with recorded learning materials. (The teacher will be online for Q&A)
Class Levels: Beginner, Elementary, Intermediate, Advanced.About Visa:
For students currently in Shanghai with a valid residence permit or visa: the university will be able to provide you the residence permit (study) application or extension documents. For students currently in overseas countries: after the university announces to resume the offline classes, we will issue the visa-supporting documents for the application of the student visa.
About Dormitory:
Students can apply for on-campus accommodations. Students who succeed in the dorm reservation can check-in on the designated date.
